Bio

Originally from El Salvador, Ulysses Castellanos now resides inToronto since graduating with a BFA from the University of Toronto in 1993. At once he is an artist, curator, musician, and filmmaker that combines his practices into elaborate installations of paintings, collages, sculptures, videos and performances. Castellanos' work has been exhibited internationally in group exhibitions all over the world including Taiwan, Tokyo, Romania, USA,Mexico, and across Canada. His texts have been published by MOMUS, BLOUINArt info, V Tape, and AluCine Latin Media + Art Festival, as well as in numerous artist monographs. He is a member of IKT Association of Curators ofContemporary Art, and an alumnus of The Canadian Film Centre's InteractiveMedia program. Ulysses is the recipient of many awards, including grants from the Canada Council for The Arts, The Ontario Arts Council and The Toronto Arts Council for his performance and media works.
