Biography
Alberto Cerritos (San Salvador, El Salvador)
Alberto Cerritos is a Salvadoran painter, sculptor, muralist, digital artist, and arts educator based in Vancouver. Alberto graduated from the National School of Fine Arts of El Salvador with a Major in Painting in 1967. In Canada, he is a member of the La Raza Group, a collective of Canadian visual artists engaged in cross-cultural collaborations at the local, national and international levels.
Alberto Cerritos' varied artworks, expressed in many different mediums, are complex and symbolic, depicting themes such as humanism, femininity, spirituality and conflict. He was inspired not only from his Salvadoran heritage, but also by his passage in Mexico City, where he lived between 1980 and 1989. Alberto has displayed murals, sculptures, and presented both solo and collective exhibitions in El Salvador, Canada, Argentina, Mexico, Bolivia, South Africa, China, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, the U.S.A., among other countries.
