Biography 

Laura Criollo-Carrillo (b. 1988, Colombia)

Laura Criollo-Carrillo is a Colombian multidisciplinary artist with a background in video and photography based in Montréal, Canada. She holds a Master’s degree of Science in Arts, Creation and Technologies from the University of Montreal and a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia. Her Professional career includes participation in Residency Projects such as the Research-creation Art at Ada X in Montreal, Canada (2024), and the Residency Project for the Digital Arts, Sound Art & New Writing at the Château Éphémère in France (2022). Laura has also participated in presentations such as COMPOSITE 33, organized by Eastern Bloc in collaboration with Chaire de recherche ALN, Labo NT2 and PixMob in Montréal, where she presented her work Les villes supersposées (2022-2023). Additionaly, she received several grants from the Canada Council for the Arts: Research-Creation (2024 and 2025), Arts Abroad (2022 and 2025), and the Research-Creation Residency Grant at Ada X in Montreal (2024).

In her artistic practice, Laura Criollo explores the ephemeral and eternal nature of memory and existence. Her work focuses on capturing and representing phenomena imperceptible to human senses, aiming to evoke a poetic reflection on the possibilities and limitations of human perception through installations, videos, and photographs. Laura’s work has been showcased at the solo exhibition Mythic Landscape (Perte de signal, Montréal, 2021). She also has been part of the collective exhibitions C’est ici que poussent les fleurs, by collectif Torrents (Fiorella Boucher, An Laurence 安媛, Laura Criollo-Carrillo) at the Maison de la culture de Rivière-des-Prairies in Montréal, Canada (2025), and Cartographies Sensibles, Curated by Milton Riaño at the Maison de la Culture Claude-Léveillée in Montréal, Canada (2023).
