Biography 

José Ospina Cifuentes (Medellin, Colombia) 

José Cifuentes is a Colombian designer and mixed-media artist based in Toronto. José holds an honours diploma in fashion arts and business, specializing in management, collection conceptualization, and product development from Humber College, Toronto, and an associate degree in fine arts from the Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey. José has received multiple awards including the Medal for Talent and Excellence from the Museo Empresarial & Cultural de Colombia in 2022, the Newcomer and Refugee Artist Grant and Mentorship in 2019, and winner of the exhibition booth in Colombiamoda given by the Mayor’s Office, City of Medellin, in 2012. 

José Cifuentes’s studio work is based on graffiti-style painting, combining acrylic, spray, or oil in large-scale formats such as canvas or wall displays. He paints colourful abstracts and figurative elements from life experiences. José’s work has been showcased in the collective exhibition A Brave New World (2020) at Gallery 1313, Toronto. He has participated in the Red Dot Miami Art Fair for three consecutive years (2022, 2021, 2020).
