Biography 

David Constantino Salazar (Ecuador) 

David Constantino Salazar is an Ecuadorian visual artist based in Toronto. David holds a bachelor of fine arts specializing in sculpture and installation from the Ontario College of Art and Design (2007), and a master of fine arts in interdisciplinary art media and design from the same institution. David has participated in several studio residencies including a residency at the Gardiner Museum in Toronto (2021), the Flora and Fauna Studio Research and Exhibition in Tiradentes, Brazil (2018), and the OCAD University Studio Research and Residency in Florence, Italy. 

David Constantino Salazar’s studio work is sculpture-based with hand-modelling clay and the fabrication process of casting in bronze, resin, and ceramic. Through sculpture, he explores themes of South American fables, following animal-based narratives to create installations and public art to engage with the community. David’s work has been showcased in the solo exhibition Forever (Bird-Botanicals) (2021) at Gardiner Museum in Toronto, and has been included in the collective exhibition 3rd International Biennal of Asunción (2020) in Asunción, Paraguay.
