TAMARA TOLEDO (Ph.D.) is a Toronto-based art historian, curator, andwriter. Her research focuses on hemispheric connections, decolonialmethodologies, artistic practices of the oppressed, oppositional consciousness,aesthetics of resistance, and Latin American diasporic exhibition histories. Her essays, reviews, and exhibition texts can be found invarious publications including ARM Journal, C Magazine, Fuse, CanadianArt, Latin American and Latinx Visual Culture Journal of the University ofCalifornia, and Concordia University Press, and she has presented her work inconferences in Canada, Colombia, Mexico and the United States. She has worked in collections, programming, and curatorialresearch roles at A Space Gallery, Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art, andthe Art Gallery of Ontario. Toledo is co-founder of LACAP, themultidisciplinary Allende Arts Festival (2003-2011) and is currently theDirector/Curator of Sur Gallery.
