Biography
Diego de la Rosa (1991, Caracas, Venezuela)
Diego de la Rosa is a Venezuelan Artist based in Toronto, Canada. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with emphasis on Drawing and Painting (with distinction) from the Ontario College of Arts and Design University (OCADU) in Toronto, Canada. Alongside his practice, Diego is an assistant painter for the Canadian FirstNations artist Kent Monkman.
His work uses symbolism and allegories to explore the cultural impact of Venezuela’s social crisis, combining archival imagery with fantastical elements to create painted narratives. Through these scenes, he reflects on themes of oppression, resilience, and power, offering a universal perspective on social struggle. Diego’s work has been showcased at the solo exhibitions The night you love me (Povos Gallery, Chicago, USA 2024) and The Game of Animals (Mark Christopher Gallery, Toronto, Canada, 2022). Some of his collective exhibitions include Odyssey (curated by Sarah MacDonald, Lyceum Gallery, Toronto, Canada, 2025); the online exhibition The Becoming (WOW x WOW online Gallery, 2024) and Salon (Patel Brown Gallery, Toronto, Canada, 2024).
