Biography 

Ari de la Mora (born 1981, Mexico)

Ari de la Mora is a Mexican self-taught visual artist born and raised in Mexico City, based in Vancouver. She holds a degree in Advertising with a specialization in Creative Visualization from the University Of Communications in Mexico City. Her work has expanded in the role of community organizer and curator. In 2015, Ari coordinated the collective exhibition and programming for the International Day of the Death, at the Granville Island Cultural Society in Vancouver.  

Ari de la Mora's studio work is with painting, her work is predominantly large-scale figurative painting in public spaces. Her work reflects on Mexican womanhood's rendition of cultural contemporary traditions and handcraft. Ari’s work has been showcased in the solo exhibition Syncretism: New Works by Ari De La Mora (2021), curated by Kirsten Larsen at B1 Gallery part of The Beaumont Studios in Vancouver. Her work has been included in the collective exhibitions Latin American Art Exhibition (2021) at cSpace King Edward in Calgary, Bridges of Friendship: A Showcase Portraying the Multicultural Landscape (2019), curated by Toni Zhang McAfee, Ari de la Mora, and Richard Kent at the Lipont Gallery in Vancouver, in addition to participating in the 2020 and 2017 Mural Festival in Vancouver.
