Biography
Julio Ferrer (born 1973, Cienfuegos, Cuba)
Julio Ferrer is a Cuban visual artist based in Burlington, Ontario. Julio studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes de Habana, Cuba, and at the International Peoples College in Denmark.
Julio Ferrer’s studio work is based on painting and printmaking using elements from pop art. His subject varies from figurative and abstract subjects accompanied by satirical details about excess. Julio has showcased in the solo exhibition Prime Time (2017) at the Government House in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and has been part of collective exhibitions including From the Heroic to the Absurd (2016), curated by Tamara Toledo, at Sur Gallery, Toronto, and Fragments (2015) and An Introduction (2012), both at Earls Court Gallery in Hamilton.
