Luz Sierra's work focuses on the physical and intellectual preservation of and access to digital archives and photographic collections. Her projects include her role as researcher and collections cataloguer of the Montgomery Collection of Caribbean Photographs at the Art Gallery of Ontario in 2022. In 2023, she was an archivist and researcher for developing, publishing, and disseminating ARCHIVO, a digital platform highlighting Latin American and Latinx visual artists in the Canadian diaspora, through Sur Gallery in Toronto. Luz has participated in numerous conferences about archives and photographs collections including the Latin American Media Art Symposium in Toronto (2023), Introducción a la Preservación de Colecciones Fotográficas as part of the Education Programming of CENCOR (2024), Photo Dip: Exploring Queer Photography from the Image Centre in Toronto (2024), and From the Vault: Queer Photographs from the Image Centre Collection in Toronto (2025).
