Ramírez-Figueroa, Naufus- Archivo - Sur Virtual Platform

Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa is a Guatemalan researcher and interdisciplinary artist based in Guatemala. He holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Emily Carr University, Vancouver, a master of fine arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and was a research fellow at Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht in 2013.

Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa’s studio work is primarily informed by research in historical archive collections and his biography. The gathered references are used in his performances, installations, and videos to reflect historical narratives, mainly during the Guatemalan Civil War. Naufus has showcased in the solo exhibitions Cecília rebelde (2022), curated by Natalie Bell, Artpace San Antonio, the solo exhibition curated by Eva Wittocx (2022) at M Museum Leuven, Belgium, and Asymmetries (2020) at the Power Plant in Toronto. His work has also been part of the collective exhibitions Is it Morning for You Yet? (2022–2023) at the 58th Carnegie International at the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pennsylvania, the online exhibition Banana Craze (2021), and the Toronto Biennial 2019.
