Biography 

Maximilian Suillerot Wilke (Mexico and France) 

Maximilian Suillerot Wilke is a French-Mexican multimedia artist based in Toronto. Maximilian began their artistic training while completing pre-university studies at L’école d'art d'Issy-les-Moulineaux, Les ARCADES in Paris, France. They then continued their studies at the University of Toronto, where they completed an honours bachelor of arts specializing in visual art studies. In 2022, they led a workshop about the subtle language of queer sexuality in urban ecologies for The Bentway Street Summit in 2022. Maximilian is a board member of Round Table, a peer-mentored and self-directed experimental artist residency program engaged with emerging artists. 

Maximilian Suillerot Wilke’s studio work is drawing, installation, sculpture, and media-based to reflect on the subjectivity of queer history, body politics, and belonging. Maximilian has showcased in collective exhibitions including the exhibition 50 años Festival Internacional Cervantino (2022) in Guanajuato, Mexico, and a collective exhibition curated by Dana Snow as part of the Back to School Party (2019) at the Xpace in Toronto. He has also been included in the exhibition publication for the Resistance: Roundtable Residency in 2019.
